Community outreach programs
United Methodist Women
The purpose of the United Methodist Women is to be a community of women whose goal is to know God, and to experience freedom as whole persons though Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Our local unit meets on the second (2nd) Friday of the month from Sept-May. Our meeting time is 10:00 am-12:00 noon. We open with devotions and then conduct the business meeting followed by a program. Currently we are studying “Giving God Your All”. We are having fundraisers to support our missional outreach. Ongoing projects are selling Frankenmuth crosses, calendars, and car window scriptural decals. Specific projects include a Bake Sale to be held on Saturday, October 26, from 10am to Noon. We are also taking orders for a Hoagie Sale on Sunday, November 3 following worship. These fundraisers will help us meet our pledges to financially support the following missions:
Florida United Methodist Children’s Home
Total Health in Honduras
Wave Crest Children’s Home
Mission Outreach through District UMW
Our December meeting will be the annual United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women Christmas Dinner to be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 6 pm at River Place Clubhouse.
Back To School Breakfast
As part of our outreach and community involvement the Mens group sponsors a back to school breakfast for the staff of the White City Elementary School.
The Mens group have been sponsoring this breakfast for seven years and counting.
With support from the church and its parishioners, God's Children youth ministry was able to attend two nights at the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom for the "Night of Joy 2013" on September 6 and 7. The attendees had a great time in a Christian environment as music from Christian singers and bands were being filtered throughout the park. The group’s favorite band was Skillet and favorite singer was Toby Mac. Day two included a trip to Disney Quest- an indoor arcade with four stories of interactive games and activities.
Thank you to the church and its supporters. A great time was had by all!
